Jamaica Bicycle Bash!

Its that time of year again! The Jamaica Bicycle Bash is set for Sunday, February 19 at James Bond Beach. Hundreds of riders will be on hand to take part in all the various competitions, races and games. Its a great day for young people in and around Oracabessa!

Whew!

Whew! Its been a crazy two months for the Oracabessa Foundation! In February we were busy helping the St. Mary Off-Road Bicycling Association (SMORBA) with the Jamaica Fat Tyre Festival and Jamaica Bicycle Bash. Both events went extremely well and we’ll update you as the press bits start to come out.

As soon as we got off our bicycles we hit the ground running with our brand-new A Ganar training program. 15 youths (4 females, 11 males) ages 16-24 are enrolled and will be receiving workplace skill training over the next 18 weeks. Its unique sport-based methodology has been very successful in Latin America and we’re hoping to repeat the results here in Oracabessa!

Of course, all this action comes in addition to our slow methodical work with the fish sanctuary, HEART Training centre and various other sports projects. Its fun staying busy!
