Jamaica Bicycle Bash!

Its that time of year again! The Jamaica Bicycle Bash is set for Sunday, February 19 at James Bond Beach. Hundreds of riders will be on hand to take part in all the various competitions, races and games. Its a great day for young people in and around Oracabessa!

Fast Pickney Track Meet

The annual Fast PIckney Track Meet came off as a great success this past Thursday. 9 schools vied for the Championship with lots of young athletes running VERY fast times. Oracabessa Primary ended up with the crown narrowly edging out Gayle.

GEF Grant!

We’re pleased to announce that the Oracabessa Foundation has been awarded a US$50,000 grant from United Nations Development Programme “Global Environment Facility”. The grant will be used to strengthen the Oracabessa Bay Fish Sanctuary and also plant 2,000 pieces of coral!

Welcome Virginia McConnell

The Foundation welcomes our newest member of staff to Oracabessa! Virginia McConnell is a newly minted Peace Corps volunteer who has been placed with the Foundation for the next two years. She is a sports specialist and will be working with Richard to strengthen the Foundation’s many sport-related youth development activities. We look forward to having Virginia around the place!

BMX Track

The Sports Development Foundation (our main local funding partner) confirmed yesterday they have agreed to a bid to build the BMX track! They hope to start works September 5. The first BMX track in the Caribbean could be up and running in a few weeks!
